چکیده

In solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and electrolysis (SOECs), the substantial performance degradation of nickel (Ni) - yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrode has been a growing challenge for commercialization. The microstructure Ni-YSZ is not stable during long-term operation due to Ni phase redistribution. present study, operando observations patterned film electrodes under SOFC, SOEC reversible cell (RSOC) modes are conducted. Confocal laser scanning microscopy applied acquire real-time images three boundary (TPB) study mobility on YSZ surface. observation showed that dynamically spreads splits up only SOFC mode, while this phenomenon observed mode. coarsening occurs regardless dynamic motion active TPB qualitatively correlates with variation in current density operation. contact angles flat surface after smallest followed by RSOC largest SOEC. Competition between altered wettability agglomeration finally determines complicated morphological changes.

Evaluation of solid oxide fuel cell anode based on active triple phase boundary length and tortuosity

An efficient procedure is presented for the evaluation of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) anode microstructure triple phase boundary length (TPBL). Triple phase boundary- the one that is common between three phases of the microstructure- has a great influence on the overall efficiency of SOFC because all electrochemical reactions of anode take place in its vicinity. Therefore, evaluation of TP...

Micro-tubular solid oxide fuel cell based on a porous yttria-stabilized zirconia support

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are promising electrochemical energy conversion devices owing to their high power generation efficiency and environmentally benign operation. Micro-tubular SOFCs, which have diameters ranging from a few millimeters to the sub-millimeter scale, offer several advantages over competing SOFCs such as high volumetric power density, good endurance against thermal cyclin...

WEAR REESISTANCE OF NANOSTRUCTURED AND CONVENTIONAL YTTRIA-STABILIZED ZIRCONIA COATINGS

Partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) has been proven to be an excellent candidate as a thermal barrier coating (TBe) for hot sections in, for instance, heat or internal combustion engines and gas turbine parts. The main functions of these coatings are reducing heat losses, reducing fuel consumption, increasing efficiency, and extending durability and life. One of the main problems involved is we...
